Beginning in January 17 / 7:45 p.m. / 2011
There will be a new series beginning every 3 weeks - Mondays and Wednesdays 7:45 p.m.
This is an excellent way to slowly begin and personalize your yoga practice. In this 3 week series of 6 classes, you will learn the basics of Vinyasa Yoga. Each class will focus on a chapter of the Vinyasa Yoga sequence. There will be a demonstration of the postures, you will experiment with how they feel in your own body and this will be followed by a Question & Answer period. Every single body is different, and this series will show you how to make the poses work with yours. Regardless of whether you experiment with only one class in the series or commit to all of them, you will leave with a much greater awareness and confidence to move forward in your yoga practice.
Beginners Vinyasa - A great place to start. This is the class where beginners learn the fundamentals of a yoga practice, and more experienced practioners can re-visit the foundations of a healthy practice. We'll give you the essential alignment principles you will use in any yoga class you attend. We'll cover all the standing poses important to opening and strengthening the body, as well as the stretching, relaxation, and breathing practices yoga is famous for. We'll also teach you how to build safe inverted postures, as well as introduce you to the building blocks of a more flowing Vinyasa style of yoga. Designed to make the first-timer comfortable, and the more experienced yogi more mindful.Gentle Vinyasa - This all-levels class is perfect for those wanting a more relaxing and gentle yoga experience. Whether you are brand new to yoga, or just looking for a more mellow class, Gentle Yoga is for you. We will explore traditional basic Vinyasa flow, restorative yoga, balancing poses, breathing, and relaxation. Prenatal and Postnatal women are encouraged to attend, as well as those recovering from minor injury, back issues, or chronic illness. This would also be a nice class for Seniors, more generous bodies and anyone else wanting to ease their way into yoga.
Vinyasa - A style of hatha yoga that builds on the basics. Continuous yoga poses are linked by breath and movement to create a flowing sequence, which frees the spirit, clears the mind, and strengthens the body. Meditation & breath work are essential components of Vinyasa. We offer different levels of Vinyasa classes to accommodate our students' different levels of experience: All Levels - Knowledge of the basics is helpful. Be ready for faster, more complex movements such as inverting. We'll provide multiple variations and progressions for more advanced movements.
Intermediate - Just as it sounds: A transitional step that focuses on linking all previous levels, but not quite as challenging as our intermediate/advanced. We allow for variations to back off a bit or to step it up a notch. To be sure, knowledge of the basics is a must.
