Although we don´t add heat to our room, we do intentionally allow the natural Caribbean heat and humidity of Cozumel to remain in our studio by not using fans or air conditioning. We do this for the many benefits it offers your body. Heat protects your muscles as they expand and contract through their full range of motion. When practicing in the heat endorphins are released, helping to reverse the negative effects of stress as it stimulates the pleasure centers of the brain. Heat increases the heart rate, which in turn strengthens the cardiovascular system. Additionally, higher temperatures soften collagen around the joints for more freedom of movement, and improve the function of the nervous system – meaning that messages are sent more rapidly to and from the brain and spinal cord. The process of sweating exfoliates and rejuvenates the skin, the largest organ in your body. Sweating is just as essential to your body as breathing and eating.
